Depaul UK

Depaul UK is a national homelessness charity with a specialism in supporting young people. For over 30 years, Depaul has worked alongside some of the country’s most marginalised young people who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

Depaul takes a client-centred approach to all of their services, responding to the unique needs of each individual and putting those they support at the heart of their work and decision-making.

Depaul’s services include:

  • Prevention: Depaul’s prevention services help prevent at-risk young people from ever becoming homeless. This includes innovative education workshops delivered in schools, alongside family mediation and support to rebuild broken relationships.
  • Nightstop: Depaul’s award-winning Nightstop emergency accommodation service matches young people in crisis with trained and vetted volunteer hosts across the UK who provide a safe and welcoming place to stay, while Depaul works to find longer-term solutions.
  • Supported accommodation: Depaul’s supported accommodation projects combine the basic need for a place to live with specialist one-to-one support from a trained progression coach to support each client’s independence.
  • Wrap-around support: Depaul provides a range of mental health and wellbeing support along with money management guidance and education, training and employment initiatives that help young people to reach their potential.

Depaul’s mission has never been more vital. The number of rough sleepers in the UK has been increasing steadily over the last decade, and the impact of the pandemic and cost of living crisis is pushing those already vulnerable over the edge and into homelessness.

Without the right support, these vulnerable young people are having to sleep rough or in an unsafe place, and risk falling into a dangerous cycle of long-term, entrenched homelessness.

Depaul is there to keep young people safe, and to support them to move on into happy, healthy and independent futures. For more information, visit their website uk.depaulcharity.org.
